Glock 26 9x19mm Subcompact
If the Glock 17 or 19 is peanut butter, the newest Glock 26 would be jelly. This 9x19mm subcompact is a familiar concealment piece with a similar design to many snub-nose platforms but without significant recoil. This light recoil for its size allows for lightning-fast firing and greater on-target accuracy.
Even better, the Glock 26 has this unique trick; it holds 10 rounds (+1 if chambered) and fits easily in a waistband at the appendix position or in an ankle holster. This pistol is a reliable, practical, and comfortable concealed carry firearm choice. If choosing to open carry with other Glock models, the Glock 26 is a perfect backup option.
Baby Glock Packs a Punch
The Glock 26 has been through a few different generations. The oldest and original features a double-stack magazine, minimal recoil for a snub-nose, and a sleek, smooth operation. It wasn’t on the market for long before adopting a Gen 3 upgrade.
The Gen 3 features a durable polymer grip, firing pin safeties, and an internal trigger for a smooth double-action pull. Ground-breaking at the time of release, it has stood the test of time while packing a solid and reliable 9mm punch that’s just gotten better with time.
Gen 4 and 5 have shown improvements beyond what Gen 3 could even imagine. Gen 5 added a Glock Marksman Barrel, eliminated finger grooves to offer more stability, and reduced the trigger pull by 2 Newtons.

Glock 26 Models and Variations
The Glock 26 originally graced the market in 1994, before the very first improvements launched in 1998 in the form of the Gen 3. Glock released the Gen 4 in 2010 and the Gen 5 in 2018. These three generations are still being produced today; however, certain states have restrictions on purchases.

Glock 26 Gen3
Gen 3 added a 15-degree slant trigger mechanism consistent through Gen 4 and 5 and added finger grooves and thumb rests to either side, which has been a hot debate in the firearm community regarding comfort and hand positioning. Gen 3 also included a modified extractor that also is a loaded chamber indicator, adding an extra visual for safety.
Gen 3 was the first to feature the Glock Universal Rail for the addition of accessories and an extra cross pin to distribute the force produced by the locking block. A unique feature this release year is that bright-colored frames came into production for dummy or simulation purposes.

Glock 26 Gen4
When the Glock 26 Gen 4 came on the market, ergonomics were the focus, and they shone when compared to the Gen 3. Featuring added texture to the grip from the factory and a reversible magazine release catch, left-handed shooters could finally be comfortable and efficient by swapping the catch to the opposite side.
A dual recoil spring assembly makes the Gen 4 last longer and disperses the recoil better than the Gen 3. Gen 4 features a modified trigger mechanism housing to fit this smaller space. Unique to this generation, and comes with two sizes of beavertail backstraps to allow an individualized fit.

Glock 26 Gen5
A lighter trigger pull than previous generations is easier on the hands, allowing for a more accurate rapid-fire with less fatigue. The Glock Marksman Barrel (GMB) is a primary feature designed to increase accuracy, and the fingerless grip adds overall comfort and stability.
The nDLC finish resists wear and tear marks, keeping this gun looking new, even after years of wear. Glock eliminated the finger grips in this generation, features a beveled magwell, and replaced leaf springs with coil springs for more reliable life for longer.
The option to add or remove backstrap pieces, reverse the mag catch, and the ambidextrous slide stop create even greater ergonomics and comfort in this newest Glock 26 generation. Even better than the previous generations, Gen 5 has front serrations that add that extra grip needed in hot or rainy weather.
