One of the most popular compact models produced by Sig Sauer, its only rival on the smaller sized pistol market comes from Glock. The P365 is chambered in .380 ACP and 9mm only. These cartridges reduce recoil, while maintaining effective energy for personal protection.
The P365 is a relative newcomer, arriving on the market in 2018. It rapidly became a favorite choice for concealed carry and remains one of the world leaders in that category today. The reason is simple, Sig Sauer makes quality handguns that are durable, reliable and easy to maintain.
One of the versions of the P365, the Romeo-X-Sig-Loc Compact was originally designed for the U.S. Military and then optimized into different versions for civilian use. The P365 is a leader in the sub-compact concealed carry market and is renowned for concealability and enhanced magazine capacity. The P365 can pack four more rounds into the same size pistol built by rival Glock.
Sometimes called an “ultra compact” the P365 is small, with a short spectrum of models that circle around 5.8-inches long, 4.3-inches high and with a grip width of only 1.06-inches. A 3.1-inch barrel takes up a little over half of the overall length. It’s small but has a heavier weight in some versions at 22-ounces than rival sub-compact pistols.
Another feature that is often overlooked is the aftermarket availability of customized options. The P365 rode a groundswell of support when it was introduced, and aftermarket producers took note, configuring their products to match it. A trigger set at a slightly heavy six-pound pull, polymer grips, and a stainless-steel slide and frame all lend durability and reliability to the P365.
A 10-round standard magazine in 9mm with larger versions as well, excellent grip texture and with a heavier weight than most sub-compacts make the P365 quick, efficient and a lighter recoil handgun than its rivals. The only drawback is the small size. Shooters with larger hands will have problems wrapping their fingers around the smaller footprint and will have to drape their pinky finger and possibly ring finger below the pistol to grip it.
- XL – Raised sights, a 12-round capacity magazine, 6.6-inch overall length and a 3.7-inch barrel along with a X-Ray 3 Day/Night sights and a black polymer grip.
- XMACRO – 17-round magazine, 22-ounce weight, a manual safety, two 17-round magazines, and interchangeable small, medium and large backstraps.
- X-Marco – What’s in a name, well plenty if you confuse the XMARCO with the X-Marco, yes, they’re similar but have notable differences. The x-Marco is lighter, had a shorter 3.1-inch barrel and has an integrally compensate optic ready slide.
- X – Raised sights, a 12-round magazine and an extremely light overall weight of just 18-oucnes. This is a small subcompact but Sig Sauer has managed an ample 12-round magazine within the tiny footprint.
- Spectre – A Custom Works Spectre slide with a Distressed finish. That’s the only thing you’ll find distressing about this pistol. It features an Xseries flat trigger, a pair of 12-round magazines and an overall empty weight of 20.7 ounces.
- 380 Auto – You might get in touch with your feminine side with this great looking pistol in turquoise blue. It’s one of the smallest in the series at just 15.7-ounces but sports a 10-round magazine in .380 ACP. The lighter .380 ACP cartridge produces little recoil even in the lighter weight.
- Xmacros Tacops – A macro-compact grip module that features a standard 1913 rail and four 17-round magazines are included. It has an extended side catch for improved reloads and is compatible with the Sig Sauer Romeo Zero Elite.
- AXG Legion – At 26 ounces it’s one of the heavyweights of the P365 series. It has a 17-round magazine, 6.6-inch overall length and a 3.1-inch barrel. You can get it in any color you like, as long as that color is gray.
- 380 Auto Rainbow Titanium – At first glance you’ll think a rainbow trout has materialized into a small, framed handgun. The .380 Auto Rainbow is a striking pistol with black grips augmented by bright pink and orange with blue highlights. Shoot this baby and people will take notice. Small at just 15.7-ounces, and an overall length of 5.8 inches. It is a favorite for female shooters and in .380 ACP has much less recoil.
- Rose 380 – Continuing in the artistic line of P365 pistols, the Rose .380 offers a laser engraved grip module, dummy rounds, a QuickStart guide, a Vaultek Lifepod Pistol Safe and a pair of 10-round magazines. Accented with a splash of red rose and with a pink trigger it is a pretty handgun.
- XL Comp Rose – A slightly larger version of the Rose .380, this model comes in 9mm and tips the scale three ounces heavier at 20.7 ounces. It has LXG laser engraved grips, X-Ray3 Day/Night sights and includes two 12-round steel magazines.
