(16)Ruger SP101 Match Champion 357 Magnum 4.2in Gloss Stainless Revolver - 5 Rounds - California Compliant
The SP 101 is one of Ruger’s top models in the compact line. With barrel lengths of 2.25 to 4.2-inches this isn’t a snub-nosed revolver, but it isn’t a target shooting masterpiece either. The Ruger SP 101 is designed for personal protection, and it delivers in that classification.
There are many varieties of the Ruger SP 101 with most of them chambered in .357 Magnum. The other choices are .38 Special, 9mm and .22 Long Rifle. Most of the models offer five-round chambers, with the .357 Federal Magnum having six, and the .22 Long Rifle version having an eight-round cylinder.
These are high-quality revolvers, the type you’ve come to expect from Ruger Arms. They feature stainless steel on the majority of styles, with a few made of blued alloy steel. All have custom rubber grips with either hardwood or synthetic side grips ornately designed with the Ruger emblem. There is a version of the Ruger SP 101 that fits any shooter.
A small-frame revolver with a big punch, the Ruger SP 101 in .357 Magnum is filled with the features you’ve come to expect from Ruger. The triple-locking cylinder, locked to the frame at the rear, front and bottom assures alignment for thousands of shots and the durability of a Ruger is only matched by its reliability.
A .357 Magnum cartridge in a smaller revolver often presents a challenge with the tremendous recoil a .357 can generate. Ruger answers the problem with their patented recoil reducing grip that takes much of the force, allowing more accurate targeting. The adjustable rear sight and fiber optic front sight make hitting the target an easier process.
An advanced transfer bar mechanism along with the easy takedown design means loading and unloading this revolver is a simple process. Ruger designed the SP 101 for easy cleaning and routine maintenance without issues.
- .357 Magnum – The .357 Magnum version of the SP 101 is the most popular platform. The legendary power and mystique of the .357 cartridge is the reason. The larger diameter cartridges reduce the available area of the cylinder so these models are five-shot. With barrel lengths of 2.25 to 4.2 inches, these are compact, powerful handguns.
- .38 Special – The .38 Special cartridge is a tried-and-true caliber, used for decades by law enforcement and the military. The advantage is reduced recoil in comparison to the .357 Magnum.
- .22 Long Rifle – If you enjoy shooting but don’t like the high cost of ammunition, the .22 Long Rifle version is a great option. All the features of an SP 101 centerfire with much less cost. The .22 Long Rifle version has an eight-round cylinder.
- 9mm Luger – The most popular pistol cartridge in the world is the 9mm. Ruger has added this cartridge to its SP 101 revolver line. The lower power of the 9mm in comparison to the .357 Magnum means reduced recoil, and 9mm ammunition costs less.
- .357 Federal Magnum – The .357 Federal Magnum cartridge is slightly smaller than the standard .357 Magnum but retains nearly identical ballistic performance. The magic of the .357 Federal Magnum version of the SP 101 is an extra round in the chamber. The smaller cartridge allows six versus five rounds in the cylinder with a standard .357 Magnum.
