Often lost in the discussion between 9mm and .45 ACP is the venerable Smith and Wesson .40 caliber cartridge. Glock recognized this trend when designing the Glock 22 Gen 4. The Gen 4 is chambered in .40 Smith and Wesson, a cartridge with substantially more punch than the standard 9mm but without the heavy recoil of a .45 ACP. The Glock 22 Gen 4 comes with a standard 15-round magazine, but options include 10, 16 and a whopping 22-round magazine. Hefty at 34.39-ounces when fully loaded with the standard 15-round magazine it offers an accurate 4.49-inch barrel inside an overall length of 7.95-inches. This is a growing player in law enforcement.
