Whitetail Hunting Tips:
1. Play the Wind, Not the Deer
Have options for entering your stand locations or have mobile stands to allow you the opportunity to play with the wind. Scent eliminators or cover scents help mask human scent, but whitetails will identify a foreign scent very easily, and one smelly sit can ruin your entire season.
2. Disrupt Your Footstep Cadence
Human footsteps have a very distinct sound and cadence. When walking into your location, use walking sticks or drag something behind you to break up the cadence if you can't create a clear soundproof access trail.
3. Preseason Sits Pay Off
After getting your stands set and shooting lanes cleared, get a few preseason scouting sits in. Spending a few hours in each of your stands can teach you a lot about your deer movement and allows time to adjust your setup or to clear possible shooting/ spotting obstructions before it's game time. Better to figure it out preseason, before it costs you the buck of a lifetime.
