The AR-15 platform is extremely popular in the United States. Rate of fire, ease of use, minimal recoil, these are all factors that make this civilian version of the venerable M-16 so popular. Springfield Armory entered the AR-15 market in 2016 with the Saint Semi-auto series.
The Sain is noted for reliability, accuracy and value. It costs less than many rival AR-15s with equal or superior manufacturing quality. The Saint series is a large one with eight different versions offered in the lineup.
Chambered in NATO 5.56mm, .223 Caliber and .308, this is a versatile platform and useful for home defense, target shooting, plinking and for predator control. The Carbine version is chambered for inexpensive 9mm. The 9mm and the lighter 5.56mm and .223 Caliber don’t have much recoil, while the heavier .308, similar to NATO 7.62mm can pack a punch with these lightweight rifles. An included muzzle brake helps in reducing the recoil on the .308 caliber versions.
Springfield Armory packed the Saint series with features. This is a mid-length gas system semi-automatic rifle that offers smooth, reliable action. Flip-up sights are standard on almost all models and a proprietary Melonite coating is applied to the barrel, trigger and bolt carrier.
The forged receivers are aluminum, decreasing weight while maintaining strength. An ambidextrous safety creates a safer rifle for both right and left-handed shooters. Pistol grips, pistol guards and stocks use B5 system components, creating a quality feel and ease of use.
M-Lok handguards create ample space for accessories, and the Saint series has many aftermarket options that can be purchased later. The final component used to reduce play between the upper and lower receivers is the Accu-Title tension system. Springfield Armory has pulled out all the stops with the Saint Semi-auto. This is a tough, durable AR platform with a 16-inch barrel and magazines from 10 to 30-rounds.
It’s estimated that six percent, slightly more than one in 20 Americans owns an AR-15. It is the most popular style of semi-automatic rifle ever on the American market. The after market is even larger with hundreds of manufacturers offering thousands of products for the AR-15 platform.
Many people purchase a Saint for home defense. It is more powerful than a handgun and has much greater range than a shotgun. Rural people or those with larger properties can utilize the power and range of a Saint semi-automatic for home and property defense against both four-legged and two-legged predators.
An affordable AR-15, with a variety of calibers and the ease of customizing the Saint lend to its popularity. Some owners hunt deer and hogs with it, others use it for target shooting and many others choose it as a varmint rifle, especially in .223 caliber.
