This semi-automatic rifle is a commercial and civilian-level firearm that can also breach into the match rifle world. The featured HK proprietary gas piston operating system replaces the typical gas tube found in AR15, M16, and M4 style firearms. A practically flawless weapon system, the H&K MR556A1 is a direct descendant of the HK416 yet offers even more refinement for accuracy, greater customization, and dry-firing compatibility.

A comfortable butt stock allows for recoil to be mitigated as much as possible, and a simple assembly allows the HK MR556A1 to be field stripped for cleaning in just a few minutes. This rifle can also be easily suppressed, and during match trials, it’s demonstrated quick target acquisition despite some models being on the heftier side.

The HK416 Descendant

The HK MR556A1 is designated as the civilian version of the HK416, the gun selected by DEVGRU during their mission that raided Osama Bin Laden’s hideout. Even Delta Force elected to replace their M4s with the HK416. To have such an impressive legacy to live up to, the HK MR556A1 doesn’t disappoint.

The HK MR556A1 can fire 5.56 NATO and .223 easily, and offers a very smooth and accurate shooting experience. The short-stroke gas piston system is simple and performs reliably whether unsuppressed or suppressed.

H&K MR556A1 Models & Variants

Heckler and Koch have outdone themselves on this AR-type firearm as a whole. The MR556A1 is an improved version of the MR556 with a free floating modular rail system, Picatinny rail, and interchangeable receiver assemblies. The MR556A1 is the civilian version of the HK416, a fully automatic weapon used by Navy Seals still today. Other HK416 variants are available to only military and law enforcement.

HK MR556A1 Standard (FDE)

The standard HK MR556A1 is an improved MR556, the civilian version of the famous HK416. This semi-automatic rifle has a light recoil and comfortable bumper plate. HK features a proprietary keyhole design on this model that allows Picatinny rail segment attachments to the handguard, as well as a factory machined Picatinny rail to the upper receiver.

Upper and barrel assemblies are interchangeable with other AR-style firearms of similar quality. A free floating HK modular rail system increases accuracy and its gas piston operating system is practically infallible. Made for a reliable and long service life, the HK MR556A1 won’t disappoint.

HK MR556A1 Competition

THe competition model is a pleasure to shoot for serious competition shooters or just the casual weekend range visitor. The german-made long service barrel remains consistent between this and the standard MR556A1, as well as the gas piston and pusher rod. The competition model features an extended magazine and a 14 Modular Rail System handguard to allow for better ergonomics perfect for three gun matches.
