CZ Scorpion

cz scorpion

Sleek, deadly, and effective in what it was designed to do. Sounds just like one of those poisonous insects inhabiting boots, sleeping bags, and clothing when you’re out on a desert camping trip. But this Scorpion doesn’t sting with a poisonous strike from its tail, it stings at distances up to 250 yards with deadly 9 mm bullets, fired in quick succession with just the flick of a trigger finger.

CZ, from Česká zbrojovka, in the Czech Republic, began producing high-quality weapons in 1936, and they now have a branch in the USA bringing that same quality that has made them a world leader in various rifles, pistols, and machine pistols over the last seven decades.

The CZ Scorpion series represents cutting-edge technology in the world of compact, high rate of fire, semi-automatic pistols. Originally a fully automatic assault weapon used by military and law enforcement departments around the world, it has been released to the consumer market in a semi-automatic version that is drawing rave reviews.

Aside from the fully automatic version which is only available for military, police, or government use, the Scorpion is available in five different models, one of which is sure to be suitable for you as a self-defense weapon, or just a fun platform to deliver a lot of lead, in a very fast time with just the quick flick of a finger.

The Scorpion 3+ will be available in an initial limited production run. The new design answers a lot of requests by owners of previous models. Improved ergonomics, a smoother design, and materials designed to be rigid, yet lighter than previous versions were all keyed into the design.

The Scorpion offers the ballistic performance of a longer barrel design in a much more compact-sized pistol. The 7.8-inch barrel meshes neatly into the overall 15.2-inch length to provide excellent balance, and control when firing.

CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 Carbine

CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 Carbine

A step up from the compact design of the Micro and the +3 Pistol, this is a true carbine, with the same rate of fire in a larger, more accurate platform thanks to the greater barrel length. The EVO 3 was created on the submachine gun platform introduced by CZ on the American market in 2015.

A folding, adjustable stock is standard on this carbine, without it the performance resembles that of a larger pistol, but with it installed it is a true carbine with a length of around 36 inches. Carbines offer more control, but still with the rapid rate of fire CZ offers in all its semi-automatic designs.

The EVO 3 comes with a substantial set of options, allowing you to customize the carbine to fit your needs, or you can just buy it off the rack and have a solid, fast-firing, reliable semi-automatic ready to use.

CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 Pistol

CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1 Pistol

This popular offering from CZ walks a fine line between being categorized as a semi-automatic pistol, or as a rifle. The ATF requires registration and assess an additional tax if you attach a stock to this pistol, creating what they consider to be a rifle in the process. The good news is that it doesn’t require any of this as long as you use it in the pistol-style you purchased it in.

The EVO S1 Pistol is similar to the larger EVO 3 carbine but has a much shorter barrel, shorter overall length, and a slightly shorter height. Performance with rapid-fire, semi-automatic 9mm cartridges is similar between the two weapons.

The EVO 3 S1 pistol is available in eight versions with each one being determined by the color of the stock, or by the size of the magazine. The low-capacity version has a 10-round external magazine, while the standard pistol sports a 20-round capacity.
