The 7mm PRC Rifle at A Glance

If you’re looking for a power, long-distance cartridge, it’s hard to beat the 7mm PRC. Designed to fire a 180-grain bullet at nearly 3,000 fps, this is a monster cartridge. It’s also the newest cartridge on the market, released in 2022.

The 7mm PRC isn’t a rifle for the faint of heart with a substantial recoil. Engineered from the powerful .375 Ruger, this round is designed to fire long, heavy bullets in a standard long action bolt.

Due to its recent release, there isn’t much anecdotal evidence as to its effectiveness, but it has taken elk, deer, caribou and black bear at long range, and is a newcomer to African big game safaris. Offered by Browning, CV, Bergara, Seekins, Mossberg, Savage and Weatherby among others, it is a growingly popular cartridge.
