The 6.5 Weatherby RPM Rifle at A Glance

The 6.5 RPM is Weatherby’s latest design but has a history dating back to the 1950s. This entry into the long-range world of the 6.5 doesn’t have the fastest muzzle velocity but delivers over 1,500 foot-pounds of energy at 500 yards, making it a great choice for long range big game hunting.

Roy Weatherby experimented with the 6.5 in the 1950s, but it never made it to market in his lifetime. In 2016, in response to the widespread expansion of long-range shooting, Weatherby introduced their proprietary 6.5 RPM (Rebated Precision Magnum) as a challenger to the popular 6.5 Creedmoor. The RPM exceeds the ballistic performance of the Creedmoor and is on par with the 6.5 PRC.
