Long range accuracy in a cartridge designed to compete with the 6.5 PRC is the prime motivator among 6.5 284 Norma enthusiasts. This Swedish cartridge descended from the .284 Winchester as a wildcat round in the 1960s. In 2001, Norma, a Swedish manufacturer, began selling factory loads.

Savage and Christensen Arms saw the benefits of the 284 Norma and have produced five different models that chamber this extremely accurate cartridge. Christensen Arms offers the Ridgeline and the

Traverse while Savage has three models, the 110 Storm, 12F and 110 Apex Hunter. The Apex Hunter is offered at an introductory price while the Christensen models are triple the cost of an Apex.
