The Model 870 Tactical was developed with the singular goal of developing a high performance gun for defense of home and person. It's built on the legendary and ultra-dependable Remington 870 pump action and comes standard with a 18 1/2" barrel with Tactical Rem Choke. It has 6+1 capacity for 2 3/4" or 3" 12-gauge shells and comes with a standard 2-shot extension.
The receiver on the 870 tactical is milled of solid steel and tapped to support the addition of an optics rail. While not standard with all models, the addition of XS Ghost Rings and XS blade sights allow for rapid target acquistion and precision shot placement. Twin-action bars help to prevent binding and twisting during operation.

Remington 870 Express Tactical Shotguns
The 870 Express Tactical is the most popular tactical shotgun manufactured by Remington. The Express Tactical comes with just about all the bells and whistles you'd want from a technical defense shotgun. These include ghost ring sights and XS Sight Systems. Together these provide a streamlined sight picture with an uninterrupted peripheral that provides better target acquisition and accuracy.
The 870 Express Tactical comes standard with an extended choke tube with teeth and ample circular vents—which may assist with the discharge of breacher rounds. Having an extended choke with is vented may also help to reduce recoil. An extended magazine tube that holds six rounds of 2 3/4" or 3" 12-guage shells ensure agressive firepower.
Without the exteneded muzzle device the 870 Express Tactical comes with a standard 18.5" barrel. To adjust shot pattern standard Remington choke tubes will thread into the barrel. Instead of the usual plastic followers included with most magazines, the 870 Express Tactical has an aftermarket stainless steel follower that provides exceptional operability and durability.
