Heckler and Koch P30L
A popular pistol in Europe with large numbers used by German, Swiss, Norwegian and Spanish military and police units, the P30L is also a standard issue sidearm with the tactical unit of the United States Border Patrol. Available in 9mm and the more powerful .40 caliber cartridge this is a high quality, reliable pistol that packs a lot of power in a small package.
The P30L features improvements on its predecessor the P30. The P30L has a longer sight radius, and slightly less record. The longer light rail is much more balanced in the hand, making it a quicker, more accurate, easier to target and fire pistol. The width and height of the P30 and P30L are identical, but the additional six-tenths of an inch in length, and extra ounce of weight makes all the difference with seasoned shooters.
The P30L arrives in two nearly identical varieties with one firing 9mm Luger cartridges and the other the slightly more powerful .40 caliber round.

P30L 9mm Luger / .40 caliber Smith and Wesson
There are just a few small differences between the two cartridges assigned to the P30L. The first is the cartridge itself, and the resulting differences in the barrel diameter, with the slightly larger .40 caliber Smith and Wesson cartridge requiring a larger bore. The second is in the magazine capacity. The smaller diameter 9mm Luger cartridges allow 15 rounds in the magazine, while the slighter larger diameter .40 caliber magazine can only hold 13 .40 caliber Smith and Wesson cartridges.
Aside from the differences created by two differing caliber cartridges, the remainder of the specifications on the two models are identical. Height, weight, length, safety, action, grips and even color, and finish are identical, just the small difference in power and performance that many experience when using either the 9mm or the .40 caliber in this pistol.
