The size and weight of your ice fishing rod and reel directly determine your chances of catching your favorite fish. Whether you're setting out in search of trout, walleye, bass, or another favorite, you'll need a quality rod, reel, or combo to get you off to a great start. At Sportsman's Warehouse, we offer quality products from 13 Fishing, Okuma, Eagle Claw, Frabill, Beaver Dam, HT, St Croix, and more trusted manufacturers.
When selecting a rod for ice fishing, you need to have a strong sense of your priorities. Are you hoping to come home with one large trophy fish, or several smaller fish? Do you want to camp in your shelter at one hole, or travel around to check on a smattering of ice holes? Shorter rods are better for camping in shelters, while long rods do well in the open as they have highly sensitive tips for jigging. You'll want a lightweight rod for smaller fish, a medium action rod for medium fish, and a medium heavy rod for your larger fish. Medium action rods are also a great choice for beginners. Choose the rod that's right for you, and don't be afraid to test a few out on the ice to figure out what works best for your fishing style!
