Catfish Pro Tips:
1. Target Deep Water & Heavy Cover
Target cover that catfish relate to. Look for deep holes in rivers or bends where the current isn't as strong. When fishing in a lake, look for fallen timber or creek channels to find catfish laying near the bottom.
2. Fish the Night for Bigger Bites
Catfish are typically nocturnal predators. While they can be targeted and caught during the day deep or hunkered down in structure, they will often come up shallower to feed after the sun sets.
3. Match Your Bait to the Species
Select your bait according to the species you're after. For channel cats opt for stink bait or cut bait, for blue cats you may want to pack along fresh cut shad and for flatheads tend to be more reactive to live bait such as bluegill or shiners.
