Attention Oregon Firearm Customers
Expect Significant Delays
Update as of 12/16/22
- The Oregon State Police (“OSP”) backlog for firearm background checks remains significant and delays are very possible.
- Sportsman’s Warehouse requires the OSP background check fee ($10.00) to be paid in advance of your firearm purchase.
- If a customer is delayed (background check goes into the OSP “queue”), Sportsman’s Warehouse will give the customer the option to ‘wait in the queue’, but will require a deposit for the full price of the firearm.
Update on OR Ballot Initiative as of 01/05/2023
- Permit to Purchase:
- As of January 05, 2023, the Firearm Permit to Purchase Requirement within Measure 114 remains blocked by a Harney County temporary restraining order (“TRO”) and other pending court cases.
- The next known court hearing is scheduled for February 22, 2023.
- OR state officials have asked the court to delay the permit requirements of Oregon Measure 114 until March 07, 2023.
- Full Capacity Magazines:
- As of January 05, 2023, a Harney County, OR preliminary injunction on Ballot Measure 114’s large capacity magazine prohibition remains in place until a trial is held.
- Full (“high”) capacity magazines and firearms equipped with the same remain legal to purchase in Oregon at this time.
We will continue to monitor this situation very closely and provide updates as they become available.
